Make a photo under 50 KB for an application form

Open the image compressor with a 50 kB target already filled in, drop your photo, and download a JPG of 50 kB or less. If a photo cannot get that small at the quality you allow, the result says so instead of pretending.

Compress a photo to 50 kB

Step by step

  1. Check the size and pixel dimensions your form asks for. Requirements differ between forms, so the form is the authority.
  2. If the form asks for exact pixel dimensions (for example 200 x 230), first use Resize image with "Fill the box" to crop to that size.
  3. Open the compressor with the 50 kB target already set, and drop your photo.
  4. Leave the quality floor at 0.6 unless the photo looks blocky, then run it.
  5. Check the size shown on the result. "Ready" means it is within the target; "Target not reached" tells you what stopped it.
  6. Download the JPG and upload it to the form.

Good to know

  • Signature scans and ID photos with plain backgrounds usually compress far below 50 kB; detailed outdoor photos are harder.
  • If the target is not reached, lower the smallest width you allow, or resize the photo smaller first.
  • The free plan takes up to 3 images at a time, each up to 20,000,000 bytes.

Questions

Can I make it under 20 kB instead?
Yes. Change the target to 20 before running. Smaller targets need a smaller photo or a lower quality floor, and the result tells you if the target was not reached.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is compressed inside your browser and never sent to a server.
