What this tool does

  • Page ranges and single pages in one expression
  • Page numbers start at 1, as printed
  • Invalid, reversed or repeated ranges rejected with a reason
  • Pages copied rather than re-rendered
  • Reads the file signature instead of trusting the file extension.
  • Copies real pages. Nothing is rasterized and no page is re-rendered.
  • Refuses encrypted PDFs instead of working around the protection.
  • Refuses digitally signed PDFs, because saving them again would break the signature.
  • Reports the measured size of the file your browser produced.

Questions about Split PDF

How do I write the page selection?
Use a comma between separate pages and a dash for a run of pages, for example 1-3,7,10-12. Page numbers start at 1, matching the numbers your PDF reader shows. Each page can be chosen only once.
Why was my page range rejected?
Because it could not be read as a selection of real pages: a 0, a page beyond the end of the document, a reversed range such as 9-4, a repeated page, or stray characters. The message names the problem that was found, and your file is not touched.
Is my original PDF modified?
No. A new document is built from copies of the pages you chose, and the file on your device stays exactly as it was.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs inside your browser tab, so the file bytes are read and written on your own device and are never sent to us for processing. Closing the tab discards everything, which is also why results cannot be restored after a reload.
Do I need an account?
No. The free tools work without signing in. There is no account system yet, so nothing is stored between visits.
