Questions about Sign PDF
- Is this legally binding?
- That depends on the country and on what is being signed, and this site cannot tell you. Many everyday agreements accept a visible electronic signature; some documents require a certificate-based digital signature or a witness, which this tool does not provide.
- What is the difference from a digital signature?
- A digital signature uses a certificate to prove who signed and that the file has not changed since. This tool adds a picture of your signature. It shows that you signed, but it does not prove it cryptographically.
- Can I sign a PDF that someone already signed digitally?
- No. Saving it again would break their digital signature, so the tool refuses rather than handing back a document whose signature no longer verifies.
- Are my files uploaded to a server?
- No. This tool runs inside your browser tab, so the file bytes are read and written on your own device and are never sent to us for processing. Closing the tab discards everything, which is also why results cannot be restored after a reload.
