    What this tool does

    • Static WebP to JPG or PNG
    • Lossless and lossy WebP both accepted
    • Animated WebP refused rather than reduced to one frame
    • Transparency flattened onto a colour you choose
    • Reads the file signature instead of trusting the file extension.
    • Applies EXIF orientation once, so a rotated photo exports the way you see it.
    • Flattens transparent areas onto the background color you choose when you export JPG.
    • Rejects animated images instead of exporting a single frame without telling you.
    • Reports the measured size of the file your browser produced.

    Questions about WebP to JPG

    Why convert WebP at all?
WebP is a modern format that some older image editors, printing services and document systems still cannot open. Converting to JPG or PNG makes the picture usable in those places.
Can I convert an animated WebP?
No. The file header is checked for animation chunks and an animated WebP is refused. Writing out only the first frame would look like a successful conversion while silently throwing the animation away.
Will the file get bigger or smaller?
Usually bigger, because WebP generally compresses better than JPG and much better than PNG. The result row shows the measured byte size of the file your browser produced, so you can see the difference.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs inside your browser tab, so the file bytes are read and written on your own device and are never sent to us for processing. Closing the tab discards everything, which is also why results cannot be restored after a reload.
    How much does it cost?
The tools on this page are free to use, with up to 3 files per job. Paid plans for larger batches are described on the pricing page but are not on sale yet.
