How to edit a PDF online: add text, white-out and replace text

Questions about Edit PDF

Can I change the existing text of a PDF?
Yes, visually. Replace text covers the line you click with a box in the background colour and writes your wording on top. The old words are hidden, not deleted: search or copy can still find them, and the result says so before you download. To remove information permanently you need a redaction tool, which this site does not have yet.
Is white-out the same as redaction?
No. White-out hides what is underneath on the page, but the hidden text is still in the file. Do not use it to remove confidential information before sharing a document.
Will the PDF still have selectable text?
Yes. Your edits are drawn on top of the original pages, which are copied unchanged, so the rest of the text can still be selected and searched.
Can I check the document for mistakes after editing?
Yes. After saving, choose Check this PDF to run the calculation, date and blank-field checks on the edited file, or Sign it to go straight to signing.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs inside your browser tab, so the file bytes are read and written on your own device and are never sent to us for processing. Closing the tab discards everything, which is also why results cannot be restored after a reload.
