    What this tool does

    • JPG in, lossless PNG out
    • EXIF orientation applied exactly once
    • No metadata copied into the new file
    • Measured size of every result
    • Reads the file signature instead of trusting the file extension.
    • Applies EXIF orientation once, so a rotated photo exports the way you see it.
    • Flattens transparent areas onto the background color you choose when you export JPG.
    • Rejects animated images instead of exporting a single frame without telling you.
    • Reports the measured size of the file your browser produced.

    Questions about JPG to PNG

Does converting to PNG improve the quality of a JPG?
No. Detail a JPG discarded when it was saved is gone, and PNG cannot bring it back. PNG only guarantees that no further detail is lost from here on, for example when you edit the image again.
Why is the PNG so much bigger?
PNG stores every pixel without lossy compression, while JPG throws detail away to stay small. For a photograph the PNG is typically several times larger. The result row shows the exact measured size.
Will a sideways phone photo stay sideways?
No. The EXIF orientation tag is read and applied once to the pixels, so the PNG shows the photo the way your phone displays it.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs inside your browser tab, so the file bytes are read and written on your own device and are never sent to us for processing. Closing the tab discards everything, which is also why results cannot be restored after a reload.
    How much does it cost?
The tools on this page are free to use, with up to 3 files per job. Paid plans for larger batches are described on the pricing page but are not on sale yet.
